The Beginner's Bible Board Book

As a child we had a Bible Stories for Children book that occupied a shifting location in our front living room. With an elegant gold cover and gilded edges, the illustrated edition was a marvel that felt both hefty and heavenly. I recall spending many Sunday afternoons sprawled on the carpet, poring over the Samson and Delilah images--amazed, no-doubt, at the spellbinding story of such powerful hair. When my family read actual scriptures, I was less engaged by the non-illustrated edition of small text marching across the page like tiny ants. But my parents persisted and little seeds of faith were planted from a young age.
Involving young kids in bible/scripture study can seem a little daunting. However, The Beginner’s Bible: First 100 Bible Words board book is a great way to introduce the youngest readers to key concepts from prominent bible stories. With parables and stories from both the Old and New Testament (The Creation, Noah's Ark, David and Goliath, Jonah, The Prodigal Son, The Last Supper, and more), each spread showcases nine bright images with one word descriptors.
The beauty of using a board book with simple prompts is that it forms early associations for children. When they later encounter the story again in another format, it already feels familiar to them. Not only is this book ideal for little fingers and would make a sweet baby shower or christening gift, it can even encourage preschool children (ages 3-5) to practice their retention and recall skills.
